2. Roomba from iRobot 990
This is the best model from Roomba and comes with all the bells and whistles. It uses a high tech AeroForce cleaning system, which has twice the suction power of other models. It can easily clean up pet hair dirt, lint, dirt, and mold spores, as as large chunks of debris from carpeting or sofas.
It's smarter and intelligent than older Roomba model, thanks to improved mapping technology. It also has a more advanced memory. It can be even started remotely via the iRobot HOME app.
It also comes with the ability to create digital "Keep out Zones' in the app that block the robot from entering certain areas of your house. It's a great option for those who have kids or pets and need to keep the mess to a minimum. However, it didn't do as well in our tests of pet hair, compared to the Samsung Powerbot R7070 and Neato Botvac Connected.
Roomba 960P iRobot from iRobot
The Roomba 980P from iRobot, the company's top model, is an improvement over its predecessor. It is smarter, stronger and better at picking up hairs from pets. It comes with an additional remote.
The back of the bin houses the bin that's easily opened by pressing a button to dump dirt and other particles. The iRobot mobile app lets you choose your cleaning preferences and view a map showing the area that has been cleaned. You can also set up your robot's cleaning schedule.
The 980 does not have an LCD display, nor does it have a manual control. This is a major disadvantage for a vacuum which relies heavily on its advanced features. Its rivals, like Neato's Botvac Connected or LG's RoboKing range, provide greater control options.
4. IRobot Roomba 980
This is among the most powerful robot vacuums in our tests, and is a popular option. It is able to remove pet hair, dirt and crumbs easily on hardwood floors, but also is a pro at cleaning carpets. Its Power Boost mode increases suction automatically, which helps pull those pesky rugs from hiding.
You can control this Roomba remotely through the iRobot app, schedule cleaning sessions and set up virtual barriers to block it from entering spaces you don't want it to be allowed to enter. iRobot CarpetBoost automatically increases the power of its brush in order to tackle difficult areas. It also allows for two cleaning passes instead of just one. Virtual walls can be used to isolate areas you wish to keep clean.

It also has an effective cleaning system that includes 10 times the power-lifting suction of older Roombas and uses a dual-swiveling brush that can reach corners and even under furniture. It can sweep your floors immediately after vacuuming.
It's not the most quiet however, especially when you're using the carpet boost feature. It was measured at 80 dB, which is about the same as a prop-driven aircraft flying over. You can use a virtual fence to keep it out of vulnerable areas, such as the dog's food and water bowls.
